This is 3Bits & Change, an email about building a service and retail business. This one was written to some groves from Apple Music.
Good day,
Things started an hour later yesterday but they still drive on the left side of the road. A few more coffee shops were open before the transport arrived at 9AM. I had two cafe lattes (they’re small) and a BLT egg sandwich for breakfast. I’ll be replicating that for a few weeks when I’m easing back to routine.
Nara is the birthplace of Japanese culture. It’s where the Emperor lived and support staff naturally surrounded. The Kikuichi family served the weapons making needs of the Emperor’s warriors. The quality of your weapons really matters when you’re the Emperor and as time went on the Emperor allowed (demanded?) his mark, The Chrysanthemum, be used in recognising his weapons and the mark persists today.

Located near Nara park, today the store supports visitors headed to the Todai-ji temple with various services including custom etching, sharpening and knife purchases.
I had a chance to install the handle on my knife, learn stone sharpening with Mr. Ajioka and practice etching. I asked their etchers if they would kindly etch my knife.

The pro…
First attempt at my name in Roman characters.
I think I did better work on the flip side with the Japanese.
A very long walk
We headed toward the shrine/temple area for a few hours. They’re are some really old and significant buildings in the area.
It was in the upper 60’s and it was so so nice outside.
Change
After three days in workshops as part of a group I had a chance to gain some autonomy again and the first thing I did was find a Starbucks near a pond. Over 90 minutes my pen did not stop moving. If the temperature would have stayed consistent I would have continued - there is so much to process. But, alas, I had dressed for 70 degrees. It was no longer 70.
On Your Way
Enjoy Sunday evening. We’re headed into Osaka, changing hotels and shopping some kitchenwares today! Happy Monday.
