Good morning,
Two months in. Every week. This was going better than I had thought it would. And then a quarantine hit. Schedules got tossed in the air. We’re all well. We did miss halloween. Ugh. And now, we’re through it. Wahoo.
William and I had a chance to fly fish, again! The dog got many walks and we discovered the off leash dog park too. The amount of dirt that can come back from just an hour off leash is truly astounding. Truely.
We’ve got movement in Vivront. So, after talking about books and resources that have impacted me this year in the last issue we’ll flip back to Vivront. Last week was the largest number of sets sharpened per week so far. We’re past halfway to 25 sets and growing fast. Thanks for all your support!
Email automation, Gift Cards or gift packages, and two way shipping are three top of mind efforts. There are others. We’ll hold them for future publications.
Bit #1
Switching off Klaviyo to Convert Kit?
Klaviyo is well integrated with Shopify. The flows are easy to set up. They look, meh. But, they are set up and running with ease. The reporting is fair. The results on the sends that are happening are better than average, or so they say. So, why switch?
I don’t trust that Klaviyo is sending the modal to all browsers. Capturing email for customers to put ‘em in the flows is really important for growth. The data does not line up. The Goog analytics data regularly show ~2/3 more unique browsers landing on the pages than Klaviyo is reporting showing modals set for immediate view. We gotta fix this.
Further, source after e-commerce source says that FREE SHIPPING is the number one way to get people to sign up for email lists. We offer that, and still the data is not lining up. Very few signups, few modal displays and under performance.
Maybe I’ll set up a reason to sign up that’s different and try that on mobile and desktop. The fly out modal is being used more often by other brands these days. I’ll look there.
What would you want to hear from Vivront on regularly? I’m thinking knife skills in a mini class. Different cuts, etc. You?
Bit #2
We’ve been both selling gift cards (and redeeming them) and having many customers say they are planning to give the gift of sharpening to their relatives this christmas. Fun idea. Available here.
Right now we offer a download of a code as the gift card. Select the number of knives you’d like to give the gift of sharpening, purchase and we’ll get you the code via email.
Some have been asking for a physical package to give to folks. Great idea. We’ve kicked off a system and packaging design effort to support that in the coming weeks.
Bit #3
Two way shipping.
That sounds easy until digging into it. This might be why it does not seem to exist for sharpening right now. We’re going to figure it out! There was an encouraging call this morning.
Sum
So, we’re through quarantine. I hope it’s the last time. It was like being set back a year, for two weeks. Vivront is growing. Customers want gift cards and gift packages and to do so we’re going to need to build new packaging and new product listings and solve some shipping opportunities.
On Your Way
I’ve had some real notable wins for remaining calm, setting boundaries and being present in recent weeks. I hope the same for you. Breathe deep, folks!
